Dr. Vicente Font

Vicente  Font, MD, FACP, FCCP, FACC

Dr. Vicente Font is a clinical cardiologist and a member of the Holy Cross Medical Group.

Vicente  Font, M.D. received his undergraduate education from the University of Maryland and his medical degree (magna cum laude) from Universidad Central Del Caribe School of Medicine, Puerto Rico, in 1985.

Dr. Font trained at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, where he completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease.

Following completion of his post-graduate training, Dr. Font joined the Department of Cardiology at Cleveland Clinic Florida as Attending Physician. During his tenure there, he directed the Section of Echocardiography and Stress Testing Laboratory, and maintained dual appointment in the Division of Education & Research.

Dr. Font is Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology. He is Board certified in Echocardiography as well as Level 1 and 2 certification in Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. Dr. Font is a member of various professional organizations and is presently a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians, and the American College of Chest Physicians.

Dr. Font has published numerous medical papers in peer-review journals and has remained active in clinical research. He has received several achievement awards and has been recognized by various institutions.

His areas of interest include clinical and general cardiology, valvular and coronary disease, women's cardiac health, congestive heart failure, general and transesophageal echocardiography, pericardial as well as congenital heart disease.

Dr. Font was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and was raised in Puerto Rico. He has been a Florida resident since 1991. He is a commissioned officer in the Medical Corps, US Army Reserve. Dr. Font is married with three children and is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Charles D. Russo, MD, FACC

Charles D. Russo, M.D. received a Bachelor of Science degree from Fordham University in Bronx, New York and his medical degree from New York Medical College.

Dr. Russo trained at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut where he completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and served as Chief Resident. He completed his Cardiology fellowship at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital where he also served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine for 5 years.

Dr. Russo joined Cardiology Associates of Fort Lauderdale in 1987. In addition, he has served as Chief of Staff at North Ridge Medical Center. He has actively served as a member of numerous medical organizations in South Florida.

Dr. Russo is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology and Lipidology. He recently obtained Level 2 certification in Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. In addition, he is Co-Director of the practice’s accredited Nuclear laboratory. Dr. Russo is a member of various professional organizations and is presently a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Russo is a member of the Holy Cross Medical Group.

Dr. Russo has published several medical papers in peer-review journals and has remained active in clinical research. He has received several achievement awards throughout his career and has been recognized by various institutions.

His areas of interest include clinical cardiology, nuclear cardiology, lipidology and preventative cardiology. He has also written a book The Fort Lauderdale Diet: A Cardiologist’s Solution to the Calorie Calamity.

Dr. Russo was born in Bronx, New York and has been a Florida resident since 1985. Dr. Russo is married with four children.

Joshua Purow

Joshua Purow, MD, FACC

Dr. Joshua M. Purow joined Cardiology Associates of Ft. Lauderdale in 2004 and practices both general and interventional cardiology. He is a member of the Holy Cross Medical Group.

He received his undergraduate education at Yeshiva University and received his Medical Degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York in 1997.

Dr. Purow completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the New York University Medical Center in New York City. He then continued his training at the University of Miami Medical Center where he completed his Cardiology Fellowship. He served as the Chief Fellow and was awarded the Harry Botwick Memorial Award for Superior Performance as a Cardiology Fellow in 2004.

Dr. Purow is Board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. He is fully accomplished in all invasive and interventional techniques including diagnostic coronary angiography, balloon angioplasty, coronary stenting, intravascular ultrasound, thrombectomy and intracoronary pressure measurements. He also performs peripheral artery angiography and interventions for those with peripheral artery disease.

Dr. Purow is a member of various professional organizations and is presently a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Purow has published numerous medical papers in peer-review journals and has remained active in clinical research. In addition, he is a member of various hospital committees. His areas of interest include clinical and general cardiology, coronary artery disease and interventional cardiology. He is an active member of the Holy Cross Vascular Research Institute and is participating in novel research with myocardial stem cells.

Jessica Weissman MS RD LDN

Jessica Weissman, MS, RD, LDN

Jessica Weissman is a Clinical Dietitian who serves as part of the clinical nutrition team at Holy Cross Hospital. Jessica earned her Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from Florida Atlantic University in 2008 and her Masters of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from Florida International Univeristy in 2010. She is currently the co-president for the Broward County Dietetic Association. In 2012, Jessica was featured in a WSVN Channel 7 news segment about healthy eating during the holidays. Her areas of interest include clinical nutrition, weight management, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal (GI) disorders and physical fitness.

Anele Manfredini, MD

Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Anele Manfredini specializes in Family Medicine and Women's Health and practices at the Holy Cross Medical Group Women's Center Physician Offices. Originally from Brazil, Dr. Manfredini obtained her medical degree from Universidade Gama Filho in Rio de Janeiro. She then relocated to Bronx, NY and completed her Residency in Family Medicine at the Bronx-Lebanon Hospital. Her Fellowship in Women's Health was completed at University Hospitals - Case Medical Center in Cleveland, OH. In addition, Dr. Manfredini completed a Fellowship in HIV / Special Immunology at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL. Dr. Manfredini joined the Holy Cross Medical Group in August 2010 and is fluent in English, Spanish and Portugese.

 

Shannon Hastings MSPT

Shannon Hastings, MSPT

A staff physical therapist, Shannon Hastings runs Holy Cross Hospital's Outpatient Physical Therapy Clinic in the Rio Vista neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Shannon as over 11 years experience as an outpatient, orthopedic and spine therapist. She has extensive training with the McKenzie Institute for mechanical diagnosis and therapy for treating patients with spinal conditions and utilizes a hands on, comprehensive approach - treating the mind, body and spirit of each patient. She also completed advanced training in vestibular rehabilitation. Shannon obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Sacred Heart University in 1998. She went on to obtain her Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from Notre Dame College in 2002.

 

Audrey Liu MD

Audrey Liu, MD

Audrey Liu, MD, is an internal medicine (primary care) physician with the Holy Cross Medical Group. Dr. Liu joined HCMG in 2013 and is practicing medicine at our Pompano Beach Practice. Dr. Liu obtained her medical degree from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2003. She went on to complete her internship and residency at Yale - New Haven Hospital. Dr. Liu is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

 
 
Ali Ghods, MD

Ali Jourabchi Ghods, MD

Dr. Ali Jourabchi Ghods joins Holy Cross Medical Group from the Rush University Department of Neurosurgery in Chicago where he recently completed his residency. Dr. Ghods specializes in neurological conditions including glioma, brain metastases, meningioma, trigeminal neuralgia, minimally invasive spine surgery and stereotactic radiosurgery. Bilingual in English and Farsi, he has been published in several medical journals and is founder and president of Foundation for Children with Neurological Disorders and Neurosurgery & Interventional Neuroradiology Organization. He also founded the Rush University Medical School Neurosurgery Shadowing Program. Dr. Ghods received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City and a Bachelor of Science degree in physiological science, graduating summa cum laude, from the University of California in Los Angeles. Dr. Ghods practices in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

 
Dr. Fernando Manalac

Fernando Manalac, MD, MMM

Dr. Fernando Manalac joined the Holy Cross Medical Group Orthopedic Institute in Fort Lauderdale, FL in 2012. Dr. Manalac obtained his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. He went on to complete an Internal Medicine residency and a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to sports medicine, Dr. Manalac also earned his Master of Medical Management degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Prior to relocating to South Florida, Dr. Manalac gained sports medicine experience while working with professional sports teams such as the Pittsburgh Pirates (MLB). Dr. Manalac is board certified in Internal Medicine and Sports Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Kathryn A.H. Heim, MD

Dr. Kathryn Heim relocated to South Florida from Pittsburgh, PA in 2014 to join the Holy Cross Orthopedic Institute - Lighthouse Point Orthopedics in the Lighthouse Point and Boca Raton offices. Dr. Heim specializes in hand and upper extremity conditions, which include but are not limited to, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger and broken bones in the hand and/or wrist. Dr. Heim obtained her medical degree from University of Louisville in Kentucky. She then completed a research fellowship at University of North Carolina's department of Orthopedic Surgery in Chapel Hill, NC. After her research fellowship, Dr. Heim moved to Ft. Worth, TX to complete her Orthopedic residency at John Peter Smith / Fort Worth Affiliated Hospitals. She then completed her Hand and Upper Extremity fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In her spare time, Dr. Heim enjoys hiking, camping and traveling.
